Wounded Warrior Dogs and K9 War Stories Are Given Permanent Home in South Florida

An art collector, patriot and retiring CEO and President of a family owned, Michigan research company purchased both displays to become the center pieces of a new museum he is developing on Marco Island, Florida to house his 2,000 piece collection of paintings and sculpture.  The building being renovated is at 900 N. Collier, in the heart of the island.

The artist/creator and Director of the Wounded Warrior Dogs Mission is elated to enter into a partnership with the new museum tentatively named the Marco Island Art Museum or MIAM.  After all it will be on the same latitude as Miami on the East Coast of Florida.  The new museum will be a first for Marco Island and the dogs should be on display by the November 2022.  The owner and developer of the new museum promises that veterans will always have free admission to the museum and the displays will continue to be loaned to other museums once the dogs are established in South Florida.

While the Marco Island Art Museum will manage all future exhibitions of the Wounded Warrior Dogs, James Mellick will continue to add on to the K9 War Story sculptures and be “the face” and spokesperson for the dogs at related museum events.
